English Transitional Tennis Racquet


1891 - From the flat top to the transitional flat top. Lawn tennis became a legitimate recreational activity and tournaments spotted the English and American countryside. As manufacturing techniques improved, the racquet heads became more functional for the harder hitter. Rumors and equipment were making their way back and forth across the Atlantic and the US and UK developed parallel tennis universes. Soon the sirens of Newport and Wimbledon would mix in an international stew of star players, hallowed venues and a demand for the latest equipment.
