Fantail Racquet

Fantail Tennis Racquet - 1910

1910 -English racquets into the early 20th century still had traces of old world quality and design, while leading with some of the solid innovations to come. A fantail was a tapering of the handle bottom without the butt cap need. Styles of play were pretty wristy back then and the smaller grip produce a lot of maneuverability. Pretty much a fad, these racquets sold to the masses, not the real players. Whipping, or fine twine wrapped around and near the throat, helped to increase the stability and feel of the racquet demanded by the harder hitting public. This frame, in fair condition, is still an extremely collectible racquet.
